Day 1: Arrived Siem Reap- Roluos Group “Hariharalaya City”

2:30 PM- This Afternoon depart to Hariharalaya City, which is known today as today Roluos Group, is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Cambodia, predating Angkor Wat by several centuries. They offer a glimpse into the early development of Khmer architecture and art.

3:00 PM- Arrive at Preah Ko, to explore the small temple complex is dedicated to Shiva and was built in the late 9th century. Take some time to admire the intricate carvings on the towers, lintels, colonettes, false doors, and the three large Nandi bulls (statues of Shiva’s mount) that guard the entrance.

3:45 PM- Next, head to Bakong, the largest and most impressive temple in the Roluos Group. Built in the late 9th century by King Indravarman I; Bakong is a five-tiered pyramid temple that was once the center of the Khmer empire. Climb the steep steps to the top for stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Explore other brick tower temples around the main temple to see more intricate carvings that whisper about the history and art of its talent.

5:00 PM- Your final stop for this morning is Lolei, a temple dedicated to the king’s ancestor. Lolei is another unique brickwork and sandstone with intricate carving on the lintels, colonettes, and deities, and it was constructed on the artificial island in the middle of the man-made water reservoir “Baray Indratadaka”. It was originally accessible only by boat. Explore this ruin of the temple and admire the intricate sandstone sculptures.

 

Day2: Banteay Srei-Kbal Spean-Banteay Samre-Pre Rup-Sunset Srah Srang

Itinerary Details:

6:30 AM- head toward Banteay Srei temple.

7:30 AM- explore Prasat Banteay Srei. Banteay Srei “Citadel of Women” which is a modern name for this temple, but based on the inscription this temple was originally called Tribhuvanamahesvara. The special charm of this temple lies in its remarkable state of preservation, small size, and excellence of intricate decoration. The unanimous opinion amongst French archeologists who worked at Angkor is that Banteay Srei is a precious gem and jewelry in Khmer art.

8:45 AM- Move to Kbal Spean.

9:00 AM- Enjoy your new experience with a short trek through Kbal Spean’s “Kulen Hill Range, and National Park”, reaching the sacred “River of a Thousand Lingas.” Witness intricate carvings etched directly onto the riverbed, depicting Hindu deities and mythological scenes. Learn how this hidden sanctuary served as a spiritual retreat for ancient kings. The final stop is a waterfall you can get a refresher from this sacred water.

At Noon – enjoy your lunch at local restaurant near Kbal Spean.

1:30 PM- Head to your next journey, and stop along the way to explore the palm production village to get more experience about local life.

3:00 PM- Explore Prasat Banteay Samre. It was constructed in the 12th century for dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. No inscription has been found for this temple, but the style of most of the architecture is similar to Angkor Wat.

4:00 PM- Explore the 10th-century temple-mountain with five towers on top. This temple was a state temple of King Rajendravaraman II dedicated to the supreme god Shiva as East Mebon dedicated to his ancestor. Unlike many Angkor-era temples that rest on a single level, Pre Rup boasts a three-tiered pyramid base, symbolizing Mount Meru, the mythical abode of the Hindu gods. The temple complex features six brick towers, three on each side of the eastern entrance. Intricate sandstone carvings adorn the lintels above doorways, depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.

5:00 PM- Enjoy the setting sun paints the sky with vibrant colors that reflect on the water’s surface. Compared to other sunset spots in Angkor Wat, Srah Srang offers a more serene experience. There’s plenty of space to relax and soak in the view without feeling crowded.

 

Day3: Angkor Wat sunrise-Ta Prohm-Banteay Kdei-Angkor thom Complex.

4:30 AM- Depart to Angkor Wat temple whisking you through the sleepy Siem Reap streets, past slumbering cafes and shuttered shops. Reaching the Angkor Wat grounds, let’s begin your day before dawn, to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of this ancient temple. Witness the temple’s silhouette transform from a majestic outline to a glowing masterpiece bathed in golden light.

7:15 AM- Head toward Ta Prohm temple, while you can enjoy your breakfast box on your private car.

7:30 AM- Start to explore the North Gate of Ta Prohm, then walk to the main temple, and explore it more. Ta Prohm “Ancestor Brahma” is one of the large temples built in the late 12th century by King Jayavaraman VII for dedicating to his mother. It is renowned for its art, architecture, intricate carving, and complicated plan. This temple is also famous for its dramatic trees growing out of the ruins, creating a mystical, Be sure to see the iconic overgrown trees, then take your time to capture the photogenic spots and soak in the atmosphere.

8:30 AM- Move to explore the nearby temple “Banteay Kdei”. Banteay Kdei, meaning “Citadel of Monks’ Cells,” offers a serene escape within the bustling Angkor Archaeological Park. Built at the end of the 12th century under King Jayavarman VII, it exudes a unique charm distinct from its more famous neighbors.

9:30 AM– Head back to the Hotel.

2:00 PM- Pick up, and head to the East Gate of Angkor Thom.

2:30 PM- Explore the East Gate of Angkor Thom, the grand capital of the Khmer Empire at its peak. Imagine this 9 km² walled city bustling with life in the 12th century. The towering gates, enigmatic sculptures, and grand avenues whisper tales of the past. Then we will walk on and along the city wall towards the Victory Gate of Angkor Thom.

3:15 PM- Head to the next journey, Preah Palilay temple. Upon reaching Preah Palilay we will walk past Tep Pranam Buddhist monastery, where you will see people get the Water-Blessing by Buddhist Monk. Then, continue to Prasat Preah Palilay, which offers a serene escape from the grandeur of its more famous neighbors. Though small, this Buddhist sanctuary holds its unique charm.

4:00 PM- Explore the Centre of Angkor Thom City “Prasat Bayon” a state temple adorned with hundreds of serene, enigmatic faces peering out from its towers. Each face, believed to represent the compassionate king Jayavarman VII, embodies the spirit of the Khmer Empire – powerful yet benevolent. Beyond the Bayon, explore architectural wonders, bas-reliefs depicting the Khmer history and daily life, Apsara the celestial dancers who perform for the god, etc.

5: 00 PM- Move onto the South Gate of Angkor Thom, then view the sunset at the moat of this capital city. After sunset we head back to the Hotel.

 

Day4: Boat cruise Siem Reap to Battambang “Floating Villages”

This morning we take a Long-tail boat cruise from Siem Reap to Battambang which offers an immersive boat cruise experience on the Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. Today’s journey “long-tail boat”, feeling the spray and Cambodia’s rural rhythm. Visit two vibrant floating villages, interact with locals, and witness their unique way of life, including traditional fishing and floating markets. Unwind on deck in comfort, enjoying refreshments and the tranquil beauty of the lake with its diverse birdlife and lush surroundings. Reach in Battambang with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for life on the Tonle Sap.

1:00 PM- Arrived Battambang Town, Have lunch, and Check in.

3:00 PM- Pick up and head to Phnom Sampov“A Tapestry of Beauty, History, and Nature”.

3:30 PM- Explore Phnom Sampov, also known as “Ship Mountain” due to its distinctive shape, is a captivating landmark in Battambang Province, Cambodia. Atop this limestone mountain sits Wat Phnom Sampov, a beautiful Buddhist monastery offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The mountain itself is riddled with caves, some adorned with Buddhist shrines and statues, adding to the site’s spiritual significance. However, Phnom Sampov also bears the weight of a dark history. During the brutal Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979), these caves were transformed into execution sites. Some human remains are still present, serving as a somber reminder of this tragic period. Despite its heavy history, Phnom Sampov offers a multifaceted experience. Every evening at dusk, millions of bats take flight from the mountain caves, creating a mesmerizing natural phenomenon known as the “Bat Cave Spectacle.” This awe-inspiring display is a testament to the resilience of nature and a welcome contrast to the mountain’s somber past.

6:00 PM- Head back to the Hotel.

 

Day5: Bamboo Train-Prasat Banan-Prasat Ek Phnom-Prasat Basaet

The famous bamboo train. This unique mode of transportation takes you on a scenic journey through the Cambodian countryside.

Prasat Banan, also known as Phnom Banan Temple, is an 11th-century Khmer temple perched atop a small mountain. Although some looting has occurred over time, Prasat Banan remains the best-preserved temple complex. The remaining structures provide valuable insights into Khmer architectural styles and religious practices during the Angkor era. Intricate carvings adorn the doorways and lintels, offering a closer look at Khmer craftsmanship. From the summit, you can marvel at the winding Sangker River snaking through sugar palm trees and rice paddies. Small villages dot the landscape, offering a glimpse into rural Cambodian life. On a clear day, you might even see the silhouette of a mountain shaped like a crocodile in the distance.

Prasat Ek Phnom, also known as Wat Ek Phnom, is an 11th-century Hindu temple located in Battambang Province, Cambodia. While not as grand as Angkor Wat, it offers a unique and atmospheric experience for those seeking a glimpse into Cambodia’s rich history. Despite its state of ruin, Prasat Ek Phnom remains a significant site for Cambodians. A modern Buddhist monastery stands adjacent to the ruins, and the area is a popular picnic and pilgrimage destination, especially during festivals. Witnessing the interplay between the ancient temple and the vibrant local traditions provides a deeper understanding of Cambodian culture.

 

Day6: Old French Architecture-Old Buddhist Monastery-Marble Artisans-Pottery village

8:00 AM- Explore the old architecture “French Architecture”. Battambang boasts a rich architectural heritage, showcasing a blend of influences from different periods, particularly French colonial and traditional Khmer styles. The most prominent architectural style in Battambang’s city center is French colonial, dating back to the 19th and early 20th centuries. This era witnessed the transformation of a dispersed settlement into a bustling town under French influence.  Then, continue to Wat Damrei Sor, also known as the White Elephant Monastery. This vibrant Buddhist Monastery offers a captivating blend of architectural styles and serves as a significant landmark for both locals and visitors. The exact date of construction remains unclear, with estimates placing it between the 18th and 19th centuries. The most striking feature is the two white elephant statues flanking the entrance to the main temple building. These statues embody the name “Wat Damrei Sor,” where “Damrei” means “elephant” in Khmer. The Intricate carvings and vibrant murals adorn the temple walls and doorways, depicting scenes from Buddhist and Hindu mythology and showcasing the artistry of its creators. Wat Damrei Sor offers more than just stunning architecture; it’s a window into the hearts and souls of Battambang’s community.

10-00 AM- Move onto the next destination and will stop at:

Pursat Marble, Pursat province, Cambodia, is renowned for its skilled artisans who have been working with marble for generations. This exquisite stone, often referred to as “Pursat marble,” is known for its unique veining and comes in a variety of colors, including green, grey, black, and even pink. Pursat marble artisans are highly skilled in the traditional techniques of stone carving, using simple tools and their innate talent to transform the raw material into breathtaking works of art. These can range from intricate sculptures and statues to decorative ornaments and everyday household items like mortars and pestles. The process of working with Pursat marble is a labor of love and requires immense patience and skill. Artisans use a variety of hand tools, including hammers, chisels, and files, to shape the stone into their desired form. The process can be time-consuming, with larger pieces taking weeks or even months to complete.

Arrived Kamong Chhnang stop to discover Ondong Rossey pottery village. This village is known for its production of red clay pottery. Visitors can watch the potters at work and even try their hand at making their own pot.

 

Day7: Cyclo ride- Royal Palace- National Museum of Cambodia-Airport

Take a Cyclo ride, a traditional Cambodian rickshaw, for a unique way to explore the city, and Start your day with a visit to the Royal Palace. The Royal Palace of Cambodia, also known as the Preah Barom Reachea Veang Chaktomuk, is a complex of buildings that serves as the official residence of the King of Cambodia. Construction of the palace began in 1866, under the reign of King Norodom.  Next, head to the National Museum of Cambodia to learn about the country’s rich history and culture. The museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts, including sculptures, ceramics, and textiles, from different periods of Cambodian history.

This afternoon our tour guide will transfer you to airport (2hours before flight departure) for your departure flight, and your next journey.
